May 13 Munich
When we arrived in Munich we dropped our stuff off at the hostel and headed to the city center. We watched the coo-coo clock dance and ding at 5, then we had some free time. We stuck with a group of girls and went to the fresh markets. This is like a farmers market; we bought fresh fruit. We went shopping for a bit afterwards, but the girls I shopped with wanted to go to H&M, I didn’t though because H&M’s are everywhere. I wanted to shop in the local stores. But my sister didn’t want to get lost so we ended up just waiting for the others to finish shopping at H&M. While we waited, we people watched.. this was entertaining. There are a lot of attractive Germans! ;) I finally stopped by a small souvenir shop and bought some sunglasses with the German flag on the shades.
Next stop, Beerhall! Everyone got a huge liter of beer in a pint sized mug... I got a huge liter of Coke instead! Sooo much Coke! We had dinner and watched some traditional dancing by German girls in Drendles. It was a fun bonding time for all. There is this one Australian boy who is so shy when he is sober, but your best friend when he is drunk. Another guy from Singapore taught me some dance moves. After the Beerhall everyone was all happy and wanting to dance, so we decided to go out clubbing.
We all went back to the hostel to get ready. After about an hour we headed into the city by tram. Let me just say it is super confusing to use the tram in another language. It took us about another hour to navigate, so we didn’t get to the clubs until about midnight. The first club offered us free entry and a free shot to come in... I think they like foreigners being seen in their club because it attracts locals. We went right in and danced for two hours! It was a lot of fun, and a bonding experience. Afterwards we caught taxis back to the hostel because the tram wasn't operating that late.
